Events Director Carol Mazzeo and Champion Janet SauterJanet fell into her comfort zone at White Oak early, finishing as the 3rd highest qualifier with 1126 on Saturday. She followed up in the Sunday's head-to-head competition with 722 and a 4-1 record. This performance earned her the 2nd seed for the ladder finals. Janet's first match was against Connie Ward of Canada. She defeated Connie 125 - 114, setting up the championship match with Krist Lampman.
Of her victory Janet said, "I'm still on cloud nine, but horrible with words. It was the most overwhelming bowling experience I've ever had! I would like to thank everyone for such amazing support! I am very happy that my daughter, Jennifer, and son, Jason, were there with me, but sorry that Kevin, son, Bryan, and daughter, Britney missed it - oh and my BFF Denise (Brooks) of course."
Janet has done well at White Oak, finishing in 2nd place the last time the center hosted a WNDA event in 2009. "I'm so glad I did it at White Oak! I love bowling there! Everyone told me I could do it, that I just had to believe in myself." After looking up and seeing that she'd won, she said "I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to finish, and I swore I wasn't going to cry." She finished, and she cried. But it was okay because in the end, she had the coveted star.
